It is very important to learn new languages. It can open doors for numerous job opportunities in different countries and make interacting with different people from different parts of the world easier for you which is great for avid travelers. However, learning a new language can be quite expensive especially if you enroll in a class. Luckily, you do not have to break the bank to get access to studies. With the Babbel application, you can learn numerous languages from your phone. Find out if this app is worth it in this review.
Both versions have great features that will surely help you to improve your language skills. First and foremost, this application has a selection of lessons for 14 languages. This means that for whichever you choose, you will have a course to guide you through what you need to learn. The app has 10-15 minutes lessons which fit perfectly into your schedule. This way, you never have to miss a class because of lack of time. Babbel has speech recognition technology which helps you learn pronunciation. Last but not least, there are plenty of listening, speaking, writing and reading exercises.
This application is compatible with iOS gadgets (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) and Android mobile. However, it requires iOS 9.0 or later and Android 4.4 and up.
Ease of Use
Babbel is very easy to use. It is self-explanatory, and everything works fine. I have not experienced any problem with the app’s performance. It is not prone to crashing, and it never freezes when I am using it. The sound is clear, and the speech recognition works very well. I also appreciate the fact that the devs are constantly working to improve the app. For instance, in the latest version, new feature such as vocabulary download which allows you to access your vocabulary offline has been included. In addition to this, there is a recently added celebratory notification feature that ensures your progress doesn’t go unnoticed with new designs which show the status of your sessions.
Babbel has a simple and smooth interface. It does not have a lot of UI elements, and it is easy to navigate. I also like the colors used in the app; the white and orange blend well together making the app very vibrant.
This app is free, but it contains in-app purchases which give you access to different languages tutoring. The cost of this ranges from $10.99 to $64.99.
- The instructions are simple to follow through;
- The courses are well-structured and very detailed.
- The quantity of courses is not the same for all languages;
- No live tutoring;
- There are a lot of new words that beginners have to learn at once.
Babbel is my favorite learning app. It has numerous lessons, and the courses are very well-structured. There are also plenty of languages to learn, not to mention great accessibility. If you are interested in learning new languages without spending a fortune, this is the app for you.
