This is one of those straightforward apps which provide a great utility for businessmen and salespeople. Instead of walking around with a stack of business cards, just take a photo of the card and store it in your virtual wallet on your mobile device.

Features

Using the app is really simple. If you are presented with a business card, take a picture using your camera and the app automatically stores or files it in a virtual cabinet. You can also do the following:

  • Introduce contacts automatically in the app.

  • Synchronize your address books and contacts in the cloud and access them across multiple devices.

  • Take batch photos of your cards so that you don’t have to do the repetitive process.

  • Exchanging e-cards with others nearby who have the app.

  • Checking contact addresses and exact locations in maps.

  • Add notes and reminders to your contacts.

Moreover, CamCard has minimal social media functionality, allowing you to customize your profile and tell other users more about yourself.

The app will give you 500 recognitions of your cards for the free version before you are prompted to upgrade. The app also offers Multilanguage support.

The app's compatibility varies with the Android device. The iOS version is compatible with iOS 9.0 or later, for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Ease of Use

The app is easy to use, and you’ll quickly find your way around it. There are bugs on both the iOS and Android versions, which include frequent freezing and locking of the camera. Occasionally, syncing your devices may take a long time on the cloud. The newest version of the app offers new premium features such as Secretary Scan mode and unlimited Card recognition.

Design

CamCard offers a clean and intuitive UI, and you can easily get to the capture the process without having to do too much. Some of the text might be a bit small, and the developers should put in more contrast on the app. The UI is also optimized for tablets as opposed to smaller devices which might have a bit of clutter.

Pricing

Both versions of the app - iOS and Android -  are free to install. In-app purchases are ranging from $4.49 monthly to $46.99 yearly for the premium account. With your premium account, you can access other features such as unlimited card scan, ads free, VIP recognition and a host of other special treats.

Pros

  • Clean UI;

  • Offers to sync over multiple devices;

  • Allows someone else to scan cards on your behalf (secretary scan mode).

Cons

  • Occasional glitches;

  • Camera scan fails at times;

  • Not optimized for smaller devices leading to clutter on the UI;

  • Import function doesn’t work.

Summary

CamCard is an essential app offering great tools for anyone who doesn’t want to be walking around with a bunch of cards in their wallets. The Android app is a bit glitchy but generally works better on larger tabs. The import function which was essential for the earlier versions doesn’t work, and this is probably a bug.

Overall, this innovative app is still one of the most convenient tools to keep your wallet clean with all your business cards on just a single device.
