The HP Smart app helps you to organize your work and studies by managing your HP printer. It’s a great productivity tool for printing, scanning, and sharing documents and images which can be helpful either you’re a college student or an office employee.
With HP Smart app, you can print PDF documents and images using HP printers connected to your Wi-Fi network. The app also helps you connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network and to set up new HP printers if needed. The only thing is, HP Smart requires Android 4.4 or up, so this may be a con. To be able to use this app, you also need an HP printer from 2010 or later. The full list of supported models you can find here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03722645?openCLC=true
You can use the HP Smart app to detect whether you can print using your smartphone, and then set up your device for printing PDF documents, pictures, and more formats with the help of HP Print Service Plug-In.
One more useful option is the mobile scanning feature that helps you turn documents and images into JPEGs and PDFs of high quality. For that purpose, you can use the scanner on your printer (if available) as well as your smartphone’s camera.
Finally, the HP Smart app lets you share documents and pictures via email, some cloud storage services, and social media sites like Instagram and Facebook.
Ease Of Use
So far, the app has worked okay. Although there may be some occasional fails, especially after updates. I’ve faced such an issue a couple of times when the app didn’t let me scan documents. Luckily, I was able to print, but still…
Also, my HP printer tends to print slower with the app. Odds are, I’ve missed something in settings – or maybe the low printing speed is due to the app.
On the bright side, the app turned out to be easy to connect to the printer which is a great deal for me. And the print quality is good, too!
I find the interface to be easy-to-use and intuitive, and the design is neat, too. I especially like the styling of the home page as it’s bright and colorful, and that’s uncommon for productivity apps like that.
There are tabs for printing photos and documents, scanning, editing, settings, and so on. There is also the «How to print» tab available in case you have some issues using the app.
The HP Smart app is free to get and to use. At least, I haven’t found any paid features, and the developers don’t offer in-app purchases.
