Zoom app provides some of the most useful tools for hosting webinars, virtual conferences, online meetings, and Instant Messaging using cloud-based functionalities, across the iOS and Google Android platforms.

If you have something to say about this app and make own review – write me. I am looking for talented app critics!

Features

Zoom app allows you to schedule, host or join a virtual meeting. The size of the webinar meeting is 100-10,000 view-only attendees and 100 interactive video attendees (25 participants on the free version). The free version offers a 40-minute time limitation on each conference while the paid version has no time restrictions.

Zoom provides full HD audio and video quality using low-latency multimedia routing. Any transmission between Zoom’s cloud and the host device server is protected by 128–bit AES encryption, meaning it’s probably the leading video conferencing app in terms of communication security.

The capabilities for a Host, Admin and Users differ. A Host can start and schedule meetings with passwords, enable the Waiting Room feature, End or Lock meetings, chat, and (un) mute participants, temporarily stop screen sharing and expel participants. The Admin can secure Log-in, add or delete users, upgrade/downgrade subscription levels and review billing reports. Participants can log in securely and mute or unmute audio and video.

In-conference features and capabilities include dual-screen support, dynamic voice detection, dynamic screen-sharing, drag-and-drop of files, annotation and commenting on files, whiteboard, instant messaging and group collaboration.

iOS version is compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, requiring iOS 7.0 or later. The android app runs on Android 4.0 or higher.

Ease Of Use

Generally, it’s quite easy to use Zoom once you have your assigned roles. The app is seamless and doesn’t crash or freeze. The video quality is awesome although the audio quality is grainy even with a good internet connection. Optimization for latency means that the audio might not have actual meeting room quality.

Recent updates introduced include the ability to modify logos for the waiting room, ability to dismiss questions, timing of chat histories and syncing message history across all platforms. Frequent updates also remove any bugs.

Design

For an app that offers so many features, the UI is quite simple, and you’ll easily find your way around, from the login screen to the Home dashboard which contains options for Meet Now, Schedule and Join. The design is intuitive and easy to navigate.

Pricing

The app is free to install, with no in-app purchases. You can choose to use the free version with limited features or a Pro-Version with a subscription fee of $9.99 per month.

Pros

  • Offers collaboration through Dropbox and Box;
  • Great HD video and streaming quality;
  • Advanced security features;
  • Interactive annotation tools and screen sharing;
  • Integrated scheduling with reminders is a great addition for large meetings;
  • Stable with few glitches.

Cons

  • Audio quality isn’t the best and has static;
  • Takes a bit of time to load the conference;
  • Problems with signing in occasionally;
  • Notifications don’t show at times.

Summary

The Zoom app is such a convenient app and offers premium features even for its free version. I’m quite impressed with the utilities provided and would recommend this app to anyone looking for great video conferencing capabilities.

  • Yeah, zoom is good. Additionally, one can also try use tools like R-HUB HD video conferencing servers for conducting online video conferences. It allows 30 way video communication.
