Video Star is the app for making music videos. Select the song you’d like to sing, record your own video, apply effects, and publish it. Download Video Star, give it some time, and shine!
The algorithm of creating videos with Video Star is the following:
Select the song. Dozens of songs are offered for free, but hardly they are even local hits. So you’d probably prefer to import one from your iTunes library. Then select the moments of the beginning and the end (unless you intend to sing the entire song).
Select the effect. Before you start recording, you can try various filters in real-time and see how you look with these filters on. Then select the one you need and keep it on. If you have another person filming you, you may appoint the moments to shift the filter.
Record. Sing or dance, or do whatever you feel to the song until the selected fragment is over. Then you can look through it and do it over (if you don’t like the first record). I’d recommend keeping the first, though, because usually, it’s the most vivid. But some of us need some time to cheer up.
Apply more effects. For example, you can import other videos or photos if you add more layers. This can be great, for example, if you want to send your crush a reminder of what you’ve been through. If he knows I did it for the article, don’t envy me.
Share it. You can use social media for publishing, if you want to be a YouTube or TikTok star, or send it privately to the ones you want to see that. Or save it to your gallery and show your friends when a good laugh can save the party.
The original Video Star is only available for iOS, though there are similar apps for Android.
Ease of Use
The app is powerful. Really powerful, comparable to pro video editors, and it’s just a karaoke video maker! Yet this power leads to complexity in interface. Some effects are harder to find, and some are right on the surface. But the really good thing is that it works fast on my iPhone 7. If you have a later device, the app will work wonders.
Well, if the developers decided to make the app more similar to pro apps, it would have been more logical. The interface is a bit chaotic: tools like timeline, multilayer, video import, or speed adjusting are hidden under the same button, though it would be logical to create some subgroups for various actions.
Though basically, the app is free, there are features that require payments for unlocking. For example, multilayer feature that lets you mix your basic record with other videos and images can’t be reached without payments.
- Dozens of songs to sing;
- High-quality filters and effects;
- Easy to master;
- Most features available for free;
- Social media integration.
- Most free songs are unknown;
- Best options, like multilayer, are paid;
- The interface is a bit chaotic.
It’s a good app for singing karaoke like a star and making bright videos out of it. But it requires both purchasing songs you like in iTunes and unlocking effects for money. So you better download Video Star and try it before investing.
