Windows 10 Will Provide Access to Your Phone
Windows 10 new feature has been introduced last July. In the upcoming Win 10 update, you'll also be granted almost full control over your mobile device from the PC.
Your Phone app allows viewing notifications that you receive on your phone. This way you won't have to grab it every 5 minutes to check if you've got any new SMS or WhatsApp messages. The application makes Windows 10, and Android gadgets work in unison.
The feature has been in the workshop for more than a year — the first time it's been mentioned was back in 2018. Apart from notifications getting mirrored on the desktop, you'll also be able to control your mobile headset.
So far, you can't interact with these notifications from your PC. But that feature will be added in the upcoming Win 10 update. We already got a sneak preview of it in the Insider version. So you'll be able to answer text messages right from PC. Moreover, the app promises to liberate you from having to "email your photos to yourself."
To get things going, you will need:
- A device with at least Android 7.0 (Nougat);
- PC with Windows 10;
- Your Phone application installed.
After that simply synchronize them and enjoy easy notification management. The app is free and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Also, the application will be pre-installed on the Galaxy Note 10 phones by default. The phone owners will be able to receive/send messages and view photos. As for notifications — for the Note 10 users, this feature will probably arrive later.
New stuff is coming
Windows 10 will get the next big update 19H2 sometime in September 2019. Apart from numerous bug fixes, it is expected to have a background update feature. In turn, it will make the OS much less intrusive. Download size and installation time will also be decreased.
As for now, the Insiders patch is available for testing. If you have previously downloaded Windows 10 May update, you're eligible to participate in testing.
